How the numbers work
The Protestant Bible has 1,189 chapters: 929 in the Old Testament and 260 in the New. An average chapter takes about four minutes to read at a normal pace, so three chapters a day is a ten to fifteen minute habit that finishes the whole Bible in about a year at six days a week.
New to Bible reading? The schedule matters less than the on-ramp: read how to start reading the Bible for where to begin, and the translation guide if you have not settled on a Bible yet.
